About Us
The Gender Equality Foundation (GEF) is registered on 31st August 2022 under section 24(1)(C) of the Foundation Act 2012.
The GEF prescribes itself to the UN principle of human rights including women rights and commits to the various UN resolutions on Gender Equality, especially those highlighting the key role men play in bringing about Gender Equality.
The GEF acknowledges the multiple gains made in favour of women and girls, which have been significant, albeit insufficient. The Beijing Platform for Action (outcome document of the 4th World Conference, 1995) pledged for gender equality and the need to redress the unequal power relations between men and women.
However, Gender Equality remains an unfulfilled agenda in most of the UN Member States. The GEF acknowledges that there has been an increasing growth of men’s networks worldwide, which are actively engaged in the promotion of Gender Equality. These needs to be invigorated. A momentum for change is becoming more and more visible. This provides the foundation with a powerful platform to work for gender justice and involve men and boys to support Gender Equality.
